This next step will address adding functionality and modifying the look and feel of your WordPress as CMS website.
Go to server Plesk/Cpanel and set up desired email account/s. (record these codes and email name/s to your login codes file) Test all new email accounts! Enable Spamassassin if using Cpanel.
Important - Ensure that you record all codes for future reference!
Next you will want to expand on the functionality of your new WordPress as CMS site. Plugins are a fast way to add functionality. Simply go to the Downloads page and select which plugins you want to incorporate into your CMS site.
Note: More plugin options are available here at the WordPress site.
Unzip the plugins on your computer and upload them via FTP to wp-content/plugins.
Login to your WordPress admin panel at http://sitename.org/wp-login.php? and activate the plugins.
Next go to the Widgets area and select the widgets to be used in the sidebar and place them in the desired order on the right side of the page. You may have to edit each one individually.
Next you will want to change the look and feel of your new WordPress as CMS site. Themes are a fast way to acheive this. If you are adept at hacking templates you can further customize your website.
Unzip the new theme you downloaded at our downloads page or at the WordPress site on your computer and upload it via FTP to wp-content/themes.
Login to admin panel at http://sitename.org/wp-login.php? and activate your new WordPress theme.
Create pages. (be sure to assign each page in proper order as you would like them to appear in the navigation menu) Below are example pages you may want to make. Home - Leadership - News - Membership - Contact - Links - Calendar
Delete the default post in the post section of the admin panel.
Under Settings/Reading/Front page displays select the radio button that says “A static page (select below)” Then select the Home page from the drop down menu. Don’t forget to save your new settings.
Go to Settings/Permalinks and select the radio button Custom Structure then include the following in the text area to the right: /http:/demo.easyorgsites.com/category_name
At this point go to your website and your page links menu should appear with the proper page names.
You will probably see on your WordPress as CMS site two menu links with the name “Home.” We want to eliminate the default link so that there is only one remaining.
